At Minds Alive! Middle School Summer Camp your child will have an extraordinary experience in engaging classes designed specifically for curious and adventurous children entering grades 5 through 8. Get ready for a summer of exploration and fun!

  • Welcome to the Fab Lab - Amie Bergersen

    Welcome to the Fab Lab - Amie Bergersen

    Prepare to get your make on! In this class you’ll learn how to use a laser cutter, 3D printer, and a vinyl cutter. We’ll use design thinking and the scientific method. You’ll learn how to program a computer, create new keyboards, and make inventions. Who knows? What you dream up could change the world!

  • Musical Madness 1 - Lisa Bodden

    Musical Madness 1 - Lisa Bodden

    Can you really do a musical in just two weeks? Sure! You’ll act, sing, and dance in a musical with costumes, sets, props, sound, and lights. Have fun, make friends, and on the last day of class, perform on the stage in front of your family and friends.

  • Art Journaling 1 - Laurie McBride

    Art Journaling 1 - Laurie McBride

    Spark your imagination this summer and express yourself through words and art in this hands-on class! Journaling is a creative way to illustrate a chronicle of your life by sketching, painting, collage, doodling, graffiti, and other artful techniques. Be inspired by the concepts, materials, and projects explored throughout these courses. Students will receive an advanced journaler's kit.
    Session one of Art Journaling will focus on the basic techniques and tools used in journaling; watercolors, inkwork with zentangling and doodling, sketching, working with color palettes and discovering your own personal style.

  • Lego Robotics - Marsha Eisenberg

    Lego Robotics - Marsha Eisenberg

    In this class you will team up with a partner and compete with other astronauts to transform another planet and make it earth-like! You will learn to design, program, and control fully functional robots. You will use software to create a variety of life-like robotic behaviors. Come let’s explore the universe!

  • Cooking Across the U.S. - Elaine Kornfeld

    Cooking Across the U.S. - Elaine Kornfeld

    Learn basic and more advanced cooking techniques as we journey across the United States trying out recipes depicting the best of regional cuisine. Each day we will be in a new location making an appetizer, entree and dessert. We will map our route adding pinches of geography and culture. Students will leave the session with their own recipe booklet.

  • Digital Media Art Craze - Laurie McBride

    Digital Media Art Craze - Laurie McBride

    Learn to use web-based photo-editing and digital art programs to create original works for a virtual art portfolio! Master a variety of techniques to manipulate, edit and transform photos both virtually and hands-on. Some of the projects will include; combining images, use layers, turning photos into caricatures/sketches, and creating animated gifs. Students will create an iMovie of their portfolio for an end-of-camp presentation.

    *Campers wishing to sign up for both sessions will learn additional advanced techniques. Projects will vary from Session 1.

  • Sports and Fitness  - Josh Dickinson

    Sports and Fitness - Josh Dickinson

    This class is a fun way for kids to exercise and develop skills in the air conditioned Gregory School Gym. The class will offer students the opportunity to play and learn about sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, and tennis. Students will be guided to improve their strength, flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and coordination through play and exercise.

    Art Journaling 2 - Laurie McBride

    Spark your imagination this summer and express yourself through words and art in this hands-on class! Journaling is a creative way to illustrate a chronicle of your life by sketching, painting, collage, doodling, graffiti, and other artful techniques. Be inspired by the concepts, materials, and projects explored throughout these courses.

    Session Two of Art Journaling will focus on letter art, creating alphabets, using journal prompts and creative expression to make your journal explode with color and originality! We will use technology to enhance your artwork through collage-style projects, as well as learning photography tricks and techniques to enhance your art journal.

    Let’s Put on a Show - Lisa Bodden

    Come play! Spend two weeks putting on a comedy play with costumes, sets, props, sound, and lights. You’ll improve your acting skills, have fun, and make friends. On the last day of class, we’ll perform on the stage in front of your family and friends.
