On Wednesday, April 27th, the Upper School celebrated their Spring Fine Arts Festival. All of the students participating in Photography, Art, Theater, Band, and Choir shared their work across campus. Once again we take note of the quality of the pieces that were on display and performed!

Ms. Smith’s photography students created exhibits in the Writing Center and Board Room. The work ranged from images created using pin-hole technology to very sophisticated digital cameras to student developed film from our very own darkroom.

The Performing Arts Center lobby was filled with paintings and drawings from students in Mrs. Encila’s various art programs. The artwork demonstrated the curriculum skills for this semester. The pieces on display even included personalized tennis shoes and 3D work with items made in the Fab Lab.

The theater department presented a series of 1-minute skits written and performed by students. It was clear that the challenge was to convey a message in a very short time. All of the scripts all started with the question “How are you going to do it?” The audience loved the creativity and format.

The choir’s performance was diverse and showcased a range of ability from tonal pieces to show tunes, including Amazing Grace set to a non-traditional melody. The evening celebrations concluded with the band concert which included Dimitri Shostakovich's Waltz #2. Members of the beginner band joined in for the final number, the theme for Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back.

We’re all looking forward to sharing more amazing talent at the Middle School Exhibition Night and Family Association BBQ, Thursday, May 12 at 5:30 pm!
