Position title: Middle School Division Head

Position Overview:
The Middle School Division Head supports families, students, and faculty at The Gregory School. This support is offered through student meetings, classroom observation and feedback, professional development opportunities, and oversight of specific academic programs. The Middle School Division Head works closely with the counseling team to support students with accommodations, and social and emotional health. The Middle School Division Head collaborates with the Head of School, CFO, and other administrators to run the daily operations of The Gregory School. The successful candidate is eager to join a community where professionalism and collaboration are valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observes and provides feedback to Middle School TGS faculty, assists with classroom management strategies if needed
- Addresses student and parent concerns, questions, and suggestions
- Collaborates with school counselors to support student Accommodation Plans and student social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Supports MS Student Council and other student organizations/clubs.
- Implements training and offers support for the middle school Advisors
- Supports and supervises the Academic Area Leaders in collaboration with the Upper School Division Head.
- Maintains policies and procedures listed in Student and Faculty Handbooks
- Plans and implements professional development activities in collaboration with the Head of School, Upper School Division Head, and according to the school mission
- Works with Head of School and Upper School Division Head to approve new course proposals
- Supports the integration of the 6Cs into curricular areas
- Collaborates with the Friday Explorations Team and Interim Week leaders
- Supports new faculty with in-service and ongoing communication
- Oversees department budgets and approves middle school faculty spending
- Works with the Head of School and CFO to hire new faculty and approve faculty contracts
- Works with the Head of School to assign Middle School teaching sections
- Collaborates with the Registrar for faculty scheduling and student course selection
- Leads middle school faculty meetings and communicates with faculty regularly
- Collaborates with the Upper School Division Head to lead all-faculty meetings
- Leads Middle School student division meetings
- Collaborates with Upper School Division Head to lead all-school (student) meetings
- Schedules middle school faculty duties
- Hires substitutes
- Tracks the Middle School faculty absences
- Attends weekly facilities meetings and participates on the Emergency Management Team
- Other duties as assigned by Head of School
Qualifications:
- BA and Advanced degree in Education preferred
- Previous middle school teaching experience preferred
- Background in classroom management skills based on best teaching practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organize and manage several tasks in one day and to adapt to an ever-changing school environment
- Ability to lead a team with a positive, growth mindset
- Strong emotional intelligence and professionalism around sensitive or confidential information
